Rebuilding society.
As I write this post in June 2025 the following should be clear:- The world needs to feed the entire population of men, women and children in Palestine now. We need to go much further and provide the urgent medical aid they need. We must help them rebuild their homes and then all the buildings and institutions needed for a successful society to flourish and then let the people have the democratic freedom to choose their own peaceful path in cooperation with the rest of the world.
What about the Society in Israel?
Many Jews will know that the Israeli government and actions are not representative of the core values of Judaism or humanitarianism.
For the barbaric atrocities that we see inflicted on the people of Palestine then this requires many of the Israeli population to have had the willingness or capability to personally physically drop bombs, burn peoples homes, or prevent aid reaching people in need.
From the Balfour agreement to psychopathic behaviour:-
For the Israeli government to encourage this then clearly their society has become warped and their society needs rebuilding. When the Balfour agreement allowed people from anywhere in the world to take land and people from the indigenous Semites and people living in Palestine, then some Europeans and Americans took advantage of this offer. They could do this by claiming they were Jews and could be a part of this Zionist movement. (This is not the actions of many decent Jews following their Judaism key values ). Some might have initially believed that this was a land without people but they soon would have found otherwise and those with psychopathic traits would continue to be part of the illegal Settlers until these lawless people eventually became the law.
What about Society in general
Now I need to state what may be less obvious to some:- We need to rebuild aspects of society in the rest of the world that has allowed this to happen, although they may not personally and physically bomb or starve innocent people. Clearly there is something wrong with societies in general.
While committing the Genocide and for decades creating Apartheid Israel has been supported by countries in the West and so we must ask what has happened to the societies in countries such as Britain that has allowed us to be part of this.
For this genocide to happen, Western countries have had to have the following:-
•Business people and workers willing to make the bombs and military equipment without regard or knowing where the military equipment will go, who will use it and on whom it will be used.
Also
* Politicians who can be persuaded to decide that these weapons will be used for defence, attack or just simply for profit regardless of the human cost.
•People in the Media who will defend the system that allows the politicians to be corrupted.
• People in the general society that are unaware or are indifferent to what is happening.
When we see the common myths on Palestine or the indifference in society then we can see that the main stream media has failed to provide adequate education on the historical apartheid in Palestine while finding ample opportunities to distract through an obsession with celebrity culture and trivial pursuits.
Institutionalised failings in the media politicians
When we consider what has been happening in Palestine it is far beyond all reasonable doubt that our politicians and Media have drastically failed.
Our politicians are calling those who commit the genocide our friend and ally. They are arranging the supply of arms, military aid and surveillance information to Israel. Writing letters to our politicians to demand that this support of genocide to stop is being ignored.
Our media has not only been responsible in keeping the population ill informed but also:-
*BBC Debates have been staged managed to avoid proper discussion.
*Information has been very selective in favour of those imposing Apartheid and Genocide.
*Key presenters, when faced with people attempting to question Israeli actions or inform in order to help stop the atrocities, are quick to intervene with comments such as:-
• "But first you have to condemn Hamas."
• "We will return to that later."
• "We are running out of time."
• "But to be impartial Israel would say"....
It has to be concluded that our Media and Politicians have been corrupted by people with the most influence and wealth. Those in positions in our political and media institutions may have received donations from corrupt Oligarchs or may know intuitively the best way to boost their careerist ambitions meaning the institutionalised failings goes from the very top to the bottom.
When careerism can corrupt people to accept genocide then clearly this kind of self interested ambition is not something to aspire to. It is more like the psychopathic behaviour of those actually dropping the bombs or starving the children. To try to explain how our politicians and Media have been so useless in playing a part to stop the genocide it seems we have hypocritical psychopaths with smiles that are in the key positions. They are playing their part in keeping the population ill informed and Israel supplied with military equipment and surveillance information.
Furthermore in a vicious cycle they are promoting a political and economic system that enables the corrupting Oligarchs to gain more wealth and influence.
So to rebuild our society we need to identify the failings in our political and economic systems that the politicians and media support, probably unwittingly as they allow themselves to follow pathways that favour the oligarchs, that leads to the vicious cycle of corruption. Since we have a vicious circle whereby the Oligarchs with the most wealth have the most influence on our politicians and media then society is being led by the most ruthless and depraved people with insatiable desires.
Clearly we must make steps to stop the vicious cycle that creates the Oligarchs with the most insatiable needs having the most influence.
Self interest
A system that promotes self interest will not only distract a population from political awareness but will encourage careerism that can allow people to be corrupted and it will encourage consumerism which will give the Oligarchs more wealth.
In a corrupt society promoting both self interest and consumerism will be encouraged but it will also likely create more people with an insatiable desire for wealth and influence and increase the inequality in our society in favour of the Oligarchs.
Boosting consumerism leads to war, exploitation and environmental damage.
Having a population persuaded to consume is the key way that Oligarchs can become wealthier and hence have more influence.
Irrational concepts such as wheels of the economy, trickle down economics are used to persuade people to consume more but above all the irrational belief that we need to indiscriminately grow the economy every year or the system will collapse is promoted.
The opposite is true. We need overall global degrowth and, where needed, discriminate growth aiming for equality and the complex issues of sustainability so that we all have all our basic needs met both now and In the future.
How can we bring about change?
One might think that if we live in a democratic country in the "free world" then all we need do is write to our MPs on issues of concern, or vote for a political party that will represent our opinions.
The Palestine issue has highlighted how ineffective this actually is on issues that conflict with those who corrupt our politicians and media.
On key issues politicians will have to follow the Party line and the only Parties that are electable are those that do not challenge the corrupt system. The main stream media have been selected to make this so, whether unwittingly through ignorance, indifference, incompetence or wittingly through compliance in pursuing their careerist ambitions.
So we need to change the system.
Systems with institutionalised failings will not self regulate.
There has always been wars and environmental damage but the levels we are seeing today is due to the futile attempts to maintain a political and economic system that is ultimately flawed.
However there are clearly issues that must be considered.
*First we must identify the flaws in the existing system so that we can be sure our new system will actually correct these flaws.
*We need to change the values in society so that enough people want to change the system.
• We need to consider what we do individually to bring about those changes in values. This is also a pathway if we don't either get enough people to change the system in time before it collapses uncontrollably or we are prevented in doing so.
The boycott or footprint principle or direct action?
Our actions either individually or collectively in direct actions can all add together to bring about change.
Individually our live choices make no difference at the global level however if our leaders won't act then the grassroot collective actions of individuals undoubtedly can force change. We have seen the Apartheid in South Africa coming to an end very much to the concerted efforts of the boycott, divest and sanction actions of which the individual boycott actions played an important part.
We are all consumers that make choices not only of what we buy but of what we value and how we choose to act in life.
We can educate and advise each other in helpful lifelong attitudes in a revolution for change that emphasizes our place in society
Conclusion
Unless we confront the myth of perpetual growth and the politics of greed or self interest then it is inevitable that our economic system will collapse. We will fight more and more over scarce resources, create obscene military equipment that will need to be used to make more for future growth and create inevitable environmental damage.
We are likely seeing early stages of this and if we don't change it will only get worse.
We need system change because our politicians and Media are corrupted within our existing system and to get system change then we need to consider what we can do as individuals collaborating in a society.
(We already have excellent advice as expressed in the core beliefs of all the main religions in the world that humanitarians can only too readily agree with. This is as long as the core humanitarian beliefs are not compartmentalised and put to one side.)
